1. Established the Department of Biotechnology

1. Received First-Class Evaluation from the Ministry of Education in 2006
2. Established the Master’s Program in 2008
3. Established the In-Service Master’s Program in 2009
4. Established the “Agricultural and Biotechnology Product Testing Service Center” in 2009 to provide student internships and services
5. Expanded space on the second floor of the Green Building and the first floor of the Phase I Teaching Building
6. Established the Industry-Academia Cooperative Program in 2011
7. Constructed off-campus student internship programs including agreements with research institutions industry partners farmers’ associations and others
8. Collaborated with the Incubation Center and industrial parks to establish an “Industry-Academia Cooperation Exchange Platform”
9. Collaborated with the Yunlin County Government to establish the “Agricultural University Program” for practical talent cultivation

6. Passed the “Self-Evaluation Accreditation for Departments of Technological Universities by the Ministry of Education” in 2015
7. Hosted the “1st National College Biotechnology Project Competition and Industry Forum” in 2015
8. Implemented the “Ministry of Education Practical Curriculum Development Program for Technological Universities” in the 2015 academic year
9. Implemented the “Model Technological University Development Program” in 2015 and 2016
10. Hosted the “Industrial Fundamental Technology Summer Practical Training Program Separation Purification and Mixing Dispersion Technologies” in 2015 and 2016
11. Participated in the Thailand Education Exhibition in 2016
12. Hosted the “Industry-Oriented Curriculum Planning and Biotechnology Industry Exchange Meeting” in 2016
13. Implemented the “Teacher and Student Practical Competency Enhancement Program” in 2016 and 2017
14. Implemented the “Ministry of Education Technological and Vocational Education Reform Program Strengthening Local Agricultural Curriculum for Agro-Food Cultural Industry” in 2016 and 2017

Achievements

1. Prepared and hosted the “National Biotechnology and Health Industry Academic Conference” in 2018 with National Formosa University as the main venue.
2. Animal facility inspection conducted in 2018 improved from good to excellent thanks to the efforts of the faculty members.
3. Planned obtained funding for and completed the following in 2019
    (1) 2019 National Formosa University Biotechnology Department recruitment video
    (2) Renovation of the main internship facilities of the Department of Biotechnology in the Mechanical Engineering Building and establishment of Multifunction Seminar Room IV
4. Passed the Department Teaching Quality Assurance Evaluation for 2020 to 2025 by the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association
5. In 2020 the Fengtay Foundation supported the Agricultural Product Testing Center facilities and equipment update managed by Department Chair Chen Chen Feng
6. In 2021 received approval from the Ministry of Education to establish the “Smart Biotechnology Program”
7. In 2021 obtained funding planned and completed the establishment of a shared P2 laboratory for the Department of Biotechnology under the university Environmental Health and Safety unit
p.s. During the term two faculty members transferred to the Department of Agricultural Science and three professional faculty members were newly recruited
